Geocaching

Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunting game that requires a global positioning system (GPS) to participate. Participants seek out hidden objects using predefined coordinates that have been saved to their GPS unit. Mark Twain Lake has hundreds of geocaches to be found all around the lake, making this an activity that can be done over and over again. The difficulty of the hiding spots and the terrain varies greatly so this activity can be tailored to users of all skills and abilities.

If you are new to this activity and would like to learn how its done and what you need, stop by the M. W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center and Mark Twain Lake park rangers can help.

A permit is only needed for those that wish to place their own cache on Corps property. There is no permit needed to seek the geocaches that have already been placed.
