These internships provide selected participants with experience in a variety of areas related to archaeology and archives, as well as general experience related to working in an office environment (e.g., computer and communication skills).  Experience will vary based on current MCX CMAC projects, but may include:

  • Collections management
  • Archaeological curation
  • Material class analysis
  • Archaeological excavation
  • Archival processing and curation
  • Mechanical archival conservation
  • Collection and facility assessment
  • Document scanning/digitization
  • Data gathering and data entry
  • Report writing
  • Research

Internships are created on an as-needed basis with appointments lasting one year, with three optional renewal years.  Relocation to St. Louis or other specified worksite is required, and many projects require frequent travel throughout the United States, sometimes including trips up to two weeks in length.
