Missouri Beautification Association Roadside Clean-up April 3, 2010
Groups, organizations and individuals volunteer to team up in helping to clean up roadways that surround the Wappapello Lake area. The event is held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Afterwards, volunteers will meet a for a FREE lunch and provided by the Wappapello Lions Club.
Earth Day April 28 & 29, 2010
Students from Wayne, Butler and Stoddard Counties are introduced to conservation and other environmental education activities. The event is partnered with the University of Missouri Extension Office and other federal and state agencies.
Old Greenville Black Powder Rendezvous April 17 & 18, 2010
Travel back in time to relive history as you see tepees, lodges and people in primitive dress. Smell the smoke of open campfires and freshly shot gunpowder. Enjoy riding to and from the event site in a wagon pulled by a team of mules. Traders will also be abundant with numerous hand-crafted items and other goods available for purchase. This event is located just off U.S. Highway 67 at the Greenville Recreation Area, two miles south of Greenville, Missouri. Admission is free to the public.
Drag Boat Races May 22 & 23, 2010
Enjoy watching modified boats zoom across the lake at speeds in excess of 160 miles per hour. The event is held 10 a.m. through late afternoon at the Redman Creek Recreation Area at Wappapello Lake and is sponsored by the St. Louis Power Drag Boat Association. A small fee per person is required to attend the event. Children under the age of twelve are free.
WOODS (Wappapello Outdoors Opportunity for Disabled Sportsmen) June 5, 2010
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wappapello Lions Club, Missouri Department of Conservation, Independent Living and the National Wild Turkey Federation along with numerous volunteers work together to provide a fun day of free fishing and outdoor sports activities for mentally and physically challenged people. Pontoon boats, fishing equipment, personal flotation devices (life jackets), archery equipment, air guns, informative programs and lunch are provided to all who would like to participate. Individuals can choose to participate in as many activities as desired. There will be special guest who will provide interactive and hands on seminars through out the day. The event will be divided up into two halves to better facilitate all who wish to come. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the second session from 1200 noon to 3 p.m. at the Redman Creek Recreation Area. This event is free to attend.
Army Birthday & Car Show June 12, 2010
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake invites you to attend the 7th Annual National Get Outdoors Day & Car Show at the Redman Creek Recreation Area. This event celebrates outdoor opportunities that abound Wappapello Lake. Many activities will be happening during this day long celebration, there will be a car show, live music, children's games and informational booths from federal, state and local agencies. National Get Outdoors Day & Kids Fishing Derby June 19, 2010
If you were thinking about taking a kid fishing, then don't miss this opportunity! This event is free to the public and open to children 14 and younger, so don't forget to add this event to your schedule. No need to bring lots of expensive gear, all you need to bring is a big smile and a can do attitude! This event is free to attend.
Ranger Willie's Wet and Wild Waterfest July 3, 2010
Come join us with activities including water tug-of-war, card board boat building contest, canoe races, inner tube races, watermelon eating contest, sand castle/sculpture building contest, and much more. The event is held from 10 am to 5 pm at the Redman Creek Beach at Wappapello Lake. The user fee is waived at the beach on this day, therefore admission is free to the public. Prizes are awarded to participants and everyone is a winner! This event is free to attend.
Old Greenville Days September 18 & 19, 2010
Enjoy arts and crafts displays and demonstrations, guided tour's of Memory Lane, homemade root beer and lemonade, bluegrass and gospel music, old time children’s games and much more. This living history event is held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free to the public, however no fee is required for each 10’x10’ to 10' x 20' booth for exhibitors and vendors. This event is free to attend.
National Public Lands Day September 25, 2010
National Public Lands Day is a time to celebrate all of the wonders and resources of this GREAT COUNTRY! Please help us celebrate by participating in a day of cleanup along roadways and trails around Wappapello Lake. After the cleanup a free Lunch will be provided.
Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt October 23 - 24, 2010
The Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt is an annual event held at the Wappapello Lake. The hunt is designed to permit hunters with severe mobility impairment an opportunity for a quality hunting opportunity in a safe environment. Applications for the hunt are available and accepted in August of each year, with drawing and notification in September. Fifteen positions are available for a two-day hunt held during late October. This is not a managed hunt, nor is it a bonus deer. Zone regulations regarding deer permits and deer hunting apply. All hunters, regardless of age, are required to provide proof of completion of a certified hunter education course. Blinds are provided for participants, and the may be accompanied on the hunt. Persons accompanying successful applicants are not allowed to hunt, or possess a firearm.
Festival of Lights Auto Tour November 26 - January 1, 2011
This Christmas festivity is held in the Redman Creek Campground. The event will be open from dusk til 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through December 12th. From December 17 through January 1 the event will be open nightly from dusk til 9 p.m. Businesses, groups, organizations and individuals are encouraged to join the holiday festivities by decorating a campsite. The event is partnered with the Wappapello Lions Club and admission is free to the public.
