Volunteering
General Dacey Trail Volunteers

2011-Volunteers: A total of 524 volunteers contributed 14,655 hours of service to Lake Shelbyville.  The value of the service is estimated at $313,030.80.

Without volunteers, many projects would not be completed. Individuals and groups alike, give their time and talent to Lake Shelbyville. As stewards of the 11,100 acres of water and 23,000 acres of land we appreciate the assistance of each person. As a volunteer you gain valuable skills, work outdoors, meet new people, see new areas, and achieve a sense of contributing to the future of the lake.

Volunteers can be individual or groups. A local naval reserve unit (Sea Bees) comes one weekend each month to make repairs to facilities all over the lake. The General Dacey Trail Work Crew which helps maintain the 4 mile multi-use trail has workday once a month.

If you would like to volunteer at Lake Shelbyville, contact Anna Hickman at 217/774-3951 ext. 7007 or by E-mail anna.e.hickman@usace.army.mil.

If you are interested in volunteering at other Corps projects, contact the Volunteer Clearinghouse or call 1/800/VOLTEER.
