Wappapello Lake dam

Location and Description:  This project is located on the St. Francis River, mile 309, in the Ozark uplands of Wayne County, Missouri and provides flood control, recreation, water quality, and conservation of fish and wildlife. Wappapello Lake consists of 44,349 acres of land and 8,400 acres of water. The dam site lies 22 miles southeast of Greenville, 16 miles northeast of Poplar Bluff, and one mile southwest of Wappapello, Missouri.

- Operate & maintain project at acceptable service levels

ARRA Allocation thru 28 Feb 10 ($20,812k)
- Highway 67 reimbursement to MODOT (completed)
- Design (awarded) and construct (pending) Highway D-5 Phase II road relocation
- Pave Redman Creek campground and Greenville bike trail access (completed)
- Perform Emerald Ash Borer Eradication (awarded)
- Rehabilitate/replace electric panels for gatehouse (awarded)
- Rehabilitate Peoples Creek campground (pending) and shower house (awarded)
- Conduct earthquake study (awarded)

Local Sponsor: Project is 100 percent federally funded including road relocations. Stakeholders are Wayne County and the Missouri Department of Transportation.
