AUTHORIZATION: Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986 allows the Corps of Engineers to study, design, and construct restoration projects adjacent to and near Corps projects. The original flood control project was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1962. |

Location and Description: This project is part of the Rend Lake facility located near Benton, Illinois. The proposed wetlands habitat restoration area is situated in Franklin County just south of the Rend Lake Dam and west of the Big Muddy River. This project consists of a series of low profile levees which form four independently managed habitat cells. |
