Location and Description: There are currently five sites within the St. Louis District FUSRAP. The St. Louis Airport Site (SLAPS) consists of 21.7 acres north of Lambert International Airport in North St. Louis County, Missouri. The site is bordered by McDonnell Boulevard on the north and east, Coldwater Creek on the west, Banshee Road and Norfolk and Western Railway on the south. The SLAPS Vicinity Properties (SLAPS VPs) site consists of 78 properties in North St. Louis County, Missouri. The contaminated properties include former ball fields (located directly north of SLAPS), areas along haul roads, and Coldwater Creek. The Latty Avenue Properties site is comprised of several different tracts of land in North St. Louis County, Missouri. It includes an 11-acre site, encompassing the Hazelwood Interim Storage Site and FUTURA Coatings Company property on Latty Avenue, and the nearby Latty Avenue Vicinity Properties. The St. Louis Downtown Site (SLDS) and vicinity properties are located on and around the Mallinckrodt facility in St. Louis, Missouri. There are 17 acres where contaminated soils are accessible for remediation without major disruption of plant operations. The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAAP) site consists of approximately 1,600 acres of land within the approximately 19,000-acre plant in Middletown, Iowa. The exact scope of the Iowa project is not known at this time as a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study is underway. |
