ORDNANCE AND TECHNICAL SERVICES BRANCH
Specializing in
Archival Research and Analysis
for
Site Characterization at Military Installations
Since 1992
The Ordnance and Technical Services Branch was established within the St. Louis District in October 1992 to complete archival research and analysis for Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) and Chemical Warfare Materials (CWM) at Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS). Since then our organization has completed over 1000 in-depth reports for site characterization at FUDS, active military and BRAC installations for MEC, CWM, Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW), 91(b) Special Nuclear Material, Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) and RCRA Material. We've conducted work on behalf of all 22 Corps of Engineer Military Districts and numerous other DOD and Federal Customers in 46 states & 3 territories.
Purpose
Historical research and investigations conducted with locally available resources generally miss the abundance of historic information stored at national and regional record repositories. We specialize in locating and gathering pertinent site-specific historical documents, maps, aerial imagery,
still pictures and
film, as well as collecting historic munitions
data and training manuals. The focus is on identifying locations, sources, and quantities of items of concern. Analysis of this information, along with interviews and visual site inspections, allows for a comprehensive assessment of the site prior to conducting CERCLA Site Investigations
(SI) and Remedial Investigations / Feasibility Studies (RI/FS).
