Who
are they and what do they do?
The St. Louis Oversight Committee is a group of community leaders
which serve in consultative and participatory roles with the cleanup of
the St. Louis FUSRAP Sites. As a consultant, the Committee provides
comments, recommendations, and constructive criticism for the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE) in its efforts to clean up these sites. As
participants, members of the Committee are actively involved in their
neighborhoods, businesses, and governmental units. They assist the USACE
by clarifying community concerns and conveying information to other
members of the community to assure that residents are fully informed
about cleanup activities. The Oversight Committee ensures that
residents' questions are answered to the fullest extent possible.
The USACE values the assistance that this group provides in
facilitating communication with the public (local residents, government
officials and interest groups). Recognizing that only through
understanding and knowledge of FUSRAP activities can rumors and
misinformation be minimized, the USACE participates in the Oversight
Committee’s quarterly meetings, which are open to everyone. These
meetings are held at the FUSRAP Project Office or at various community
locations. The presentation from these meetings is updated regularly and
posted below.
Individuals interested in contacting the Oversight Committee may do
so by calling Mr. Dan Carey (314) 877-3047 or by e-mailing Ms. Sandy
