Always wear a life jacket when you play near the water. There are many types you can wear. Make sure you have one that fits you. Life jackets, Life ring

You can rescue someone without risking your life. Yell "Help!"  You can reach someone in the water with a pole, branch, paddle, ladder and many other things.
