Recreation

Lake Shelbyville Boat Ramp

CAMPING:
Visitors to Lake Shelbyville can expect to find a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. If your favorite pursuit is camping, you can choose from close to 1500 campsites in areas operated by the Corps, the State of Illinois, and Sullivan Marina and Campground.

TRAILS:
For the hiker, trails ranging from 1/2 mile to an 11 mile backpacking trail and 15 mile equestrian trail are scattered around the lake.


BOATING:
If water-based recreation is more your speed, check out the marinas for boat rentals. Concrete launching ramps are located in most recreation areas. All major developed recreation areas have boat ramps with courtesy docks. In the event of flooding, high water boat ramps are also available in most areas. Small boat access ramps can be found scattered in other areas around the lake.

2010 Boat Rafting Policy

DAY USE FEES- User fees are charged for the use of Corps of Engineers public beaches and certain boat ramps. A $3.00 per day boat launch fee is charged at the following boat ramps: Bo Wood, Coon Creek, Dam West, Lithia Springs, Lone Point, Opossum Creek, Whitley Creek, and Wilborn Creek. $1.00 per person per day fee is charged at the following beaches: Dam West, Sullivan and Wilborn Creek.

The total day Use Fee paid shall not exceed $4.00 per day per vehicle. No Day Use Fees are charged for children under 13 years of age or persons camped in the Corps of Engineers Campground.

Annual passes are available for $30.00. America the Beautiful Senior Pass, cardholders receive 50% reduction in all Day Use Fees and on the purchase of an annual pass. Annual passes can be purchased at the Lake Shelbyville Project Office, Corps of Engineers campgrounds, and the West Okaw Wildlife Management Area Office.

BEACHES:
Four public beaches and two campground beaches provide ample space for the sunbather and swimmer. The public beaches are located in Dam West, Sullivan Beach, Wilborn Creek, and Wolf Creek State Park. Dam West Recreation Area offers beach mats for easy access as well as an accessible playground. $1.00 per person per day use fee is charged at the following beaches: Dam West, Sullivan and Wilborn Creek.

PICNICKING:
Whether out for a short lunch or an all day family reunion, Lake Shelbyville offers picnic areas that accommodate any size group. Many offer scenic views of the lake. Sites are located in most developed recreation areas.

Reservable Picnic Shelters are available at Dam East, Dam West, East Spillway, Lone Point, and Bo Wood Areas.

Dam East: Picninc Shelter by Visitor Center (PS#1) $30.00

Dam West: Ramp Point (PS#1) $30.00

Dam West Overlook: (PS#2) $30.00

LODGING:

Sullivan Marina and Campground offers 700 sq ft suites with kitchenettes and all the amenities of a full service marina.
