  • Carlyle Lake Pool Update, 6-28-19

    As of 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 452.55 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The current release rate is approximately 5,200 cubic feet per second (cfs). The inflow for Thursday, June 27, 2019 was approximately 13,080 day second feet (dsf). With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at less than 453.0 feet NGVD on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Carlyle Lake Dam is operating as designed, helping reduce flood stages on the Lower Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers.

The current release rate is approximately 4,950 cubic feet per second (cfs). The inflow for Wednesday, June 26, 2019 was approximately 12,730 day second feet (dsf). With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at 452.5 feet NGVD on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in the afternoon. Carlyle Lake Dam is operating as designed, helping reduce flood stages on the Lower Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers.
  • High Water Continues at Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is reporting continued high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 10.32 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level on Tuesday, June 25 was 610.02 feet NVGD.  The discharge rate was 1750 cubic feet per second (cfs) and the inflow was 4170 cfs.

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019 the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 450.61 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The current release rate is approximately 4,600 cubic feet per second (cfs). The inflow for Sunday, June 23, 2019 was approximately 12,770 day second feet (dsf). With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at 451.7 feet NGVD on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Carlyle Lake Dam is operating as designed, helping reduce flood stages on the Lower Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers.
  • Weekend Activities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Independence Day at Carlyle Lake. Family oriented activities will be taking place throughout the weekend.
  • Carlyle Lake Fireworks Spectacular

    CARLYLE LAKE – Due to elevated water conditions that have impacted Point 1, the fireworks will be shot off from Lakeview Access Area for the Fireworks Spectacular scheduled for Saturday, 29 June. Lakeview Access Area is located at the east end of the Carlyle Lake Main Dam. During the Fireworks Spectacular, Lakeview Access Area and Chipmunk Nature Trail will be closed to the public for visitors’ safety. The Dam East Spillway Recreation Area will be open for parking/viewing of the fireworks. Once the fireworks begin, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the Dam East Spillway Recreation Area due to safety concerns. Viewing of the fireworks can best be seen from the west side of the top of the Carlyle Lake Main Dam, Dam West Day Use Area, McNair Beach, Dam East South Shore (Point 18), or from the water.
  • High Water at Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is reporting high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 6.39 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level as of 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 20 was 606.09 feet NVGD and rising.  The discharge rate was 750 cubic feet per second (cfs).
  • Change of Command for Mississippi Valley Division

    Maj. Gen. Richard G. Kaiser will transfer command of the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), to Maj. Gen. R. Mark Toy in a formal change of command ceremony, July 23, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the Vicksburg Convention Center, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, USACE 54th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General, will officiate the ceremony.

    CARLYLE LAKE – June is National Great Outdoors Month and Carlyle Lake is the perfect place for all your favorite outdoors activities. Carlyle Lake has several nature trails around the lake for hiking enthusiasts to enjoy. Chipmunk Trail, Little Prairie Nature Trail, and the Willow Pond Trail are all centrally located and easy to access. Eldon Hazlet State Park also has several hiking trails throughout the park. All trails are free to the public.
