    Tickets are now on sale for the annual Masters of the Sky event at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL. The two-day eagle extravaganza will be held on February 14 and 15, 2015. Each year, this event promises to amazing and entertain audiences of all ages.
  • UPDATE: Rivers Project Two Rivers South Access Area Closure

    The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, is announcing the temporary closure of the Two Rivers South Access Area in Rockport, IL. This access area will be closed until November 21, 2014 for dredging. Boats wishing to launch in this section of the river should use Two Rivers North Access Area to the north or Gosline Access Area to the south.

    Alton, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District reopened the main lock chamber to river traffic at Melvin Price Locks and Dam today after completing emergency repairs to one of the busiest locks on the Mississippi River.

  • Army Corps to hold public meeting for proposed Cora Island project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District will hold an open house public meeting for the proposed project at Cora Island on Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Audubon Center at Riverlands, 301 Riverlands Way, West Alton, Mo.
  • St. Louis District’s Rivers Project acquires land at Piasa Creek

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District acquired 74-acres of land adjoining the upper portion of Piasa Creek in Madison County, Ill., for wetland restoration and habitat enhancement.
  • Great Rivers Festival Offers Something for Everyone – Just not the Dredge Potter

    The Dredge Potter may not be available for this year’s Great Rivers Festival on Saturday May 17th from 10 am - 5 pm, but many other events and activities will keep visitors entertained. Hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation, and many partners on the river, the Great Rivers Festival will connect visitors with our region’s river heritage. Festival-goers can participate in activities in Alton, Ill., and West Alton, Mo.
  • There's Something for Everyone at the Great Rivers Festival

    The Meeting of the Rivers Foundation (MTRF), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and their many partners are throwing a party for our great rivers! The first annual Great Rivers Festival will be at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL and the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, MO from 10 am - 5 pm on Saturday May 17th. A party so big, it spans the Mississippi River!
  • The Rivers Project Natural Resource Management Master Plan

    The Rivers Project Master Plan is the required U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approval document that guides public use and natural resource management on the Project’s 48,792 acres of Federal public lands and 106,208 acres of Project waters for environmental stewardship and recreation related purposes. The Project area for the Master Plan extends from Mississippi River Mile 0, at Cairo, Illinois; upstream to the tail water of Locks and Dam 22, Mississippi River Mile 301, at Saverton, Missouri. The majority of the Project’s public lands are upstream of St. Louis, Missouri. The lower 80 miles of the Illinois River, is also managed by Rivers Project and is included in the plan.
