    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Independence Day at Carlyle Lake. This free, fun-filled, family-friendly event begins at 1:00 p.m. in the Dam West Recreation Area. All activities are free of charge and open to the public.
  • Weekend Activities at Carlyle Lake, June 25-27

    June is National Camping month and Carlyle Lake is the perfect place to camp. The Corps of Engineers and Illinois Department of Natural Resources offer campgrounds available around the lake. Corps of Engineer campgrounds Dam West, Coles Creek, and Boulder and the Illini campground at Eldon Hazlet State Park offer a mix of reservable and first come first serve individual sites, while McNair/Dam East Spillway Campground offers first come first serve individual sites. Enjoy great views of the lake and Kaskaskia River at one of our many waterfront campsites. Make your reservations today at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 for the Corps of Engineers’ campgrounds or visit www.reserveamerica.com for Eldon Hazlet State Park camping.

From Friday, 18 June through Monday, 21 June, anyone can fish in Illinois without having to purchase a fishing license. This annual event is the perfect time to introduce someone to the sport of fishing.

  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closed Temporarily for IHSA State Bass Fishing Finals

    CARLYLE LAKE - The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Bass Fishing Finals are being held at Carlyle Lake on Friday, 21 May 2021 – Saturday, 22 May 2021 at the Dam West Boat Ramp in the Dam West Day Use Area. To accommodate tournament activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will be closed from Tuesday, 18 May 2021 at 10:00 p.m. through Saturday, 22 May 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Visitors should use Allen Branch and Apache Boat Ramps located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp and Keyesport Boat Ramp which will be available to the general public during this period.
  • Boulder Road Bridge Closure

    Boulder Road will be closed at the bridge over Gibbs Creek between Lake Villa Road and Nut Road,
  • Carlyle Lake Dam East Boat Ramp Closure

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Carlyle Lake Project will temporarily close the Dam East Boat Ramp to the public beginning the evening of Thursday, April 8 through Sunday, April 11, 2021. The closure is necessary for the 739th Engineer Company to conduct military training exercises associated with launching, catching, and retrieving Interior Bays on the water with approximately 30 to 40 soldiers participating.
  • Carlyle Lake Increasing Downstream Releases

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 1:00 p.m. on Monday, 22 March 2021, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 448.17 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The current release rate is approximately 5,700 cubic feet per second (cfs). The inflow for Sunday, 21 March 2021 was approximately 15,330 day second feet (dsf). With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at 449.00 feet NGVD on Wednesday, 24 March 2021. Releases will be increased to 10,000 cfs by Friday, 26 March 2021.
