September 29, 2016, Mark Twain Lake – On September 29, 2016, Mr. Bob Kendrick of Monroe City, Missouri was presented with the Enduring Service Volunteer Award at the Columbia Bass Pro Shop.  The award was presented by Greg Miller, Chairperson for the Corps Foundation and David Smith representing the Bass Pro Shop.  The Bass Pro Shop donated a monetary award and Bass Pro gift certificate for the awardee.

The Enduring Service Volunteer Award was established in January 2016 by the nonprofit Corps of Engineers Natural Resources Education Foundation, doing business as The Corps Foundation.  The Corps Foundation is the only nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to supporting our nation's lakes, rivers and their many resources. Our mission is to engage the public to ensure the environmental health and recreational enjoyment of our nation’s lakes, lands and waterways administered by USACE.

Bob Kendrick has been selected as the first Corps Foundation “Enduring Service” awardee. He was selected for the exceptional quality and impact of his volunteer work at Mark Twain Lake in Monroe City, MO.  Bob's dedicated effort united the community to provide thousands of hours of volunteer service and the necessary resources to support annual special events including the Mark Twain Lake Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities, the Youth Shed Antler Hunt, Earth Day Special Event, and National Public Lands Day event.  His advocacy on behalf of the Mark Twain Lake Region helped to secure resources to develop the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center Campus, a premier educational facility serving visitors to Mark Twain Lake.

Bob's outstanding volunteer endeavors over a period of 28 years exemplify the type and quality of volunteer service for which the Enduring Service Award was established.  Bob was selected from an impressive group of individuals nominated for their continued service and accomplishments at US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects throughout the United States.
