Carlyle Lake Fireworks Spectacular

CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Independence Day at Carlyle Lake.  Family oriented activities will be taking place throughout the weekend; all activities are free and open to the public. The highlight of the weekend activities will be the Fireworks Spectacular shot from point one at dusk on Saturday, June 29th.  

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers educational programs in the campgrounds and beaches every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the recreation season.  Activities for this weekend include:

 

Friday, June 28:

        8:00 p.m. Dam West Amphitheater, Dam West Campground – Owls of Illinois

        8:00 p.m. Cattail Cove Amphitheater, Coles Creek Campground – Campers Challenge

        8:00 p.m. Brewster Creek Amphitheater, Boulder Campground – Stinky and the Bandit

Saturday, June 29:

      11:30 a.m. Registration for Volleyball Tournament & Sand Castle Contest

      11:30 a.m. Carlyle Sailing Association Open House

      11:30 a.m. Water Safety Games- Dam West Beach

      12:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Live Bands at Dam West Day Use Shelter 2

       12:00 – Travis Hill

        1:30 – Lonell Brooks

        3:00 – Davis Brothers Band

        4:00 – No Excuses

        6:00 – Overdrive 

        7:30 – Double Shot

 

        1:00 p.m. Volleyball Tournament Begins

        2:30 p.m. Water Safety Games at Dam West Beach, Coles Creek Beach, and  Keyesport Beach

Dusk:  Fireworks Spectacular

 

Sunday June 30:

 

            10:00 a.m. -- Carlyle Lake Dam Tour- Starts at the East Spillway Steps

              2:30 p.m. -- Dam West Beach - Water Safety Game

              3:30 p.m. -- Coles Creek Beach – Water Safety Games

              3:30 p.m. -- Keyesport Beach – Water Safety Games

 

While at Carlyle Lake, be sure to stop by the Visitor Center which is open daily, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Visitor Center has exhibits, an informational video on Carlyle Lake, a gift shop, and brochures to help you plan your stay at Carlyle Lake. Also, if you do not own life jackets for your children, life jackets are available at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center through the “Life Jacket Loan Program.” For a $5.00 deposit, a life jacket can be borrowed for the day. When the life jacket is returned in good condition, the deposit will be refunded.  Please remember this holiday weekend to always wear your life jacket when in, on, or near the water.
