• Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces the waiver of day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.
  • Closure of South Shore State Park

    CARLYLE LAKE – Due to several years of reduced budgets by the State of Illinois and lack of maintenance, the South Shore State Park facilities have become degraded, resulting in unsafe conditions and minimal useable recreation facilities. As a result, the Corps of Engineers has terminated the lease and closed the area to allow for work to be completed to make the area safe for public access. A portion of the area is scheduled to reopen in 2017.
  • Fall Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Fall is a beautiful time for camping! Enjoy the cool fall temperatures with family and friends while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over a crackling campfire. Carlyle Lake offers opportunities at several campgrounds that stay open for fall camping. Dam West and McNair Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1st, Boulder and Coles Creek Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Sunday, October 16th, and Dam East and Hazlet State Park Campgrounds are open year round.

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will hold a public workshop regarding the 2016 Carlyle Lake Draft Master Plan Update. An overview of the updated plan will be presented at the Mariners Village Resort Conference Center in Carlyle, IL at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

  • Regatta Bicycle Ride

    CARLYLE LAKE – Trailnet of St. Louis, Missouri will be hosting a Regatta Bicycle Ride featuring a metric century at Carlyle Lake on Sunday, September 18, 2016. The bicycle ride will consist of three routes; 33 miles, 40 miles, and 67 miles starting at the Dam West Day Use Picnic Shelter #2. Registration for the ride will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. An $8 online or $10 at event for members, and an $11 online and $16 at event nonmember registration fee will be charged to ride participants. All participants will receive a map with routes, and all roads will be marked with arrows to mark the path of the route.
