    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Carlyle Lake Project offers an abundance of recreation opportunities for lake visitors. Dam West, Coles Creek, and Boulder Campgrounds are open with sites available on a first-come-first-serve basis and through reservation by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service at 1-877-444-6777 or online at www.recreation.gov. McNair and Dam East Campgrounds are open on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Eldon Hazlet State Park is also open and has sites available first-come, first-serve or online at www.reserveamerica.com
  • Discovering Nature’s Treasures at Carlyle Lake!

    CARLYLE LAKE – In recognition of Great Outdoors Month, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a nature hike “Discovering Natures Treasures” at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center. The Carlyle Lake area is abundant with treasure, nature’s treasures! Participants will take a hike with a park ranger, and discover turtles, snakes, animal tracks, and much more.

  • Paddle Away at Carlyle Lake!

    CARLYLE LAKE – In recognition of Great Outdoors Month, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host “Paddle Away” at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Willow Pond Fitness Trail located next to the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center. The event will focus on educating and encouraging children and adults to paddle safely! Participants can gain experience and test their skills on a kayak or a canoe.
  • Carlyle Lake Pool Update

    CARLYLE LAKE – As of 9:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013, the pool elevation of Carlyle Lake is 450.68 feet NGVD with a release rate of approximately 5,680 cubic feet per second (cfs). Yesterday’s inflow was 17,570 dsf. Due to the previous rainfall, Carlyle Lake is predicted to crest on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at less than 451.5 feet NGVD.
  • “Reeling in the Fish” Kids Fishing Tournament Celebrating Illinois Free Fishing Days and National Get Outdoors Month

    CARLYLE LAKE - In recognition of Illinois Free Fishing Days June 7 – 10 and National Get Outdoors Month, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a “Reeling in the Fish” kid’s fishing tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 8 at the Fish Hatchery Pond located on Old Rt. 50. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. The tournament will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. giving participants an hour and a half of fishing time. Trophies will be awarded for total weight in two age categories, ten and under and eleven to fifteen. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded in both categories.
