Rivers Project employees receive award
Mississippi Valley Division Commander Maj. Gen. Mark Toy presented the MVD Star of Life Award to St. Louis District’s Rivers Project Office employees Jason Thompson, Jason Welch, Justin Redshaw, and Katelynn Dearth for their quick response and teamwork on July 13, 2019 that led to the rescue of a paddler in distress on the upstream side of Melvin Price Locks and Dam in Alton, Ill. Due to the many hazards of paddling on the Mississippi River and around locks and dam, the Rivers Project has an extensive outreach program dedicated to educating the public about how to safely recreate on the Mississippi River. The Star of Life Award recognizes Mississippi Valley employees who played an essential role in saving the life of someone on Division lands and waters. #BuildingStrong and #TakingCareofPeople
