Carlyle Lake – A public workshop to discuss this past year's water control operations and dam safety at Carlyle Lake is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariner's Village Inn and Suites Convention Center. Blood Drive Donors to Receive Free Camping Carlyle Lake – The American Red Cross in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 22nd at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. In the U.S. today, a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. Carlyle Lake - The Fifth Annual Art and Wine Festival at Carlyle Lake, hosted by the Clinton County Art Guild is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 th from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 11 th from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Festival will take place on the grounds of the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center . New Carlyle Lake Life Jacket Wear Requirement
Carlyle Lake – Currently in Illinois, only those under the age of 13 and operators of personal watercraft are required by State law to wear life jackets while boating. However, the US Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District has announced that a pilot test of a mandatory life jacket wear regulation is being implemented at Carlyle Lake. This mandate requires that life jackets be worn by single occupants in all vessels 21 feet and under in length, while underway using the main propulsion motor. Second occupants must be at least 12 years of age with a Boating Safety Certificate issued by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources or at least 18 years of age without a certificate. The bike course will start at the Keyesport Recreation Area and will travel South on Clinton and Bond County roads. Great Kaskaskia River Duck Race Changed to Duck Pluck
Carlyle Lake - The 20 th Annual Great Kaskaskia River Duck Race returns to the Carlyle Lake West Spillway on Saturday, July 9, 2011 with a new format. Due to increased downstream releases from the Carlyle Lake Main Dam, this year's event has been changed to the “Great Kaskaskia River Duck Pluck”. Thousands of ducks will be securely placed on land in a fenced area located in the West Spillway. A designated official will be blindfolded and randomly choose the winning ducks. The owner of the winning duck will be awarded $5,000 and 19 additional prizes will be issued to the runners-up. The top four runner-up prizes include four St. Louis Cardinal Tickets, six month membership to Breese Ultimate Family Fitness, pontoon excursion from Carlyle Lake Rentals and a youth scholarship for two for five nights at the Carlyle Sailing Association Camp. Carlyle Lake – You have probably heard excuses for not wearing a life jacket while boating or swimming. Most of the time it is about how uncomfortable they are and how you cannot get a good tan while wearing one, but that is just not true anymore. I nflatable life jackets are lightweight and easier to wear than ever before. They are compact, comfortable to wear and they come in styles that resemble either a set of suspenders or a belt pack that goes around your waist. Carlyle Lake - In recognition of Illinois' Free Fishing Days June 10 th – 13 th , the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be hosting a kid's fishing tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 11 th in the Dam West Spillway. Carlyle Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working to re-open areas that were closed due to flooding as quickly as possible.
